According to Owl Labs State of Remote Work 2019, 83% of survey respondents agree that the ability to work remotely would make them happier.

Of those already working remotely, 55% said they would likely look for another job if they were no longer allowed to work remotely.

Even though we decided to create this session to help all of the managers and supervisors that walked into work one day and found out, BAM, they were going to be managing their staff remotely for the foreseeable future, we want to help any leader that may be struggling with this new reality. We are definitely in a world where having employees work remotely is quickly becoming the norm rather than the exception. Whether you got here due to the current global health and safety concerns (pandemic), cost reductions in your organization or by choice, welcome!

With a fast-growing percentage of the workforce moving toward working remotely companies must revise the way they approach how the work is getting done. Things like managing work rather than time, worker engagement, communication, collaboration, ensuring all tasks are adding value to the big picture and culture become that much more critical when you are not face to face everyday.

This session is geared to give you information, tips and techniques to help you through the initial hurdle. There are so many things to think about in a big change like this, we wanted to organize some of those thoughts for you to get off on the right foot with this initiative. Leadership can be tough enough, but throwing in the fact that you are not face-to-face with your staff can really be challenging. You will still be directing work, leading meetings, managing performance issues, giving tough feedback, mediating conflict, being supportive and all of your typical managerial/supervision duties. It all just becomes a little more complicated.

This is NOT an in-depth leadership or communication session. I am confident there are other really great sessions here on Udemy that will fit that need. We hope you walk away with some ideas and tools you can implement immediately which is why we have pulled just this piece out of leadership.
